I find myself waiting

There are different kinds of waiting.
There's waiting for dinner, waiting for the bus  & waiting for quitting time, this is different as I'm waiting for an appointment...in 5 days and I'm not at home.

It's not as bad as waiting for a baby to be born and it's different from waiting for your enlistment to end or Social Security to start. It does seems more 'personal'.

It is someplace 'here' I have  to be  in 5 days.

While I thought about 'waiting' this morning I flashed on a favorite waiting phrase, "Waiting for the Electrician or Someone Like Him" by The Firesign Theater from a long time back.

In those days I don't remember waiting ...
well I do remember waiting for gas in 1973.

  1. Waiting, especially when you are not home...can be exasperating. If I do not read you before then have a Happy New Year.

  2. I remember the oil embargo. I was at UNM then. My little vw bug didn't need a lot of gas so I wasn't much bothered.

    1. I had a '59 VW bus in Sonoma county California & was going to Sonoma State College.
I remember the lines, the rationing & the "No Gas" signs. FWIW the "No Gas" signs bothered me the most. I also remember swearing that if gas ever hit $1 a gallon I'd stop driving! . I'm delighted with $3 a gallon gas these days if I can find it...

  3. Enjoying your observations....waiting is difficult for me whether it is waiting for something I'm looking forward to or waiting for something I'm dreading. I don't wait more than 10 minutes for someone who is late to meet me. What are you waiting for? Thanks so much for your comments on my blog. I "usually" put the park where we are staying just under the date on all posts. Sebastian Inlet is a state park in Vero Beach. It isn't a city in Florida. So sorry if I confused you.

My wife has a doctors appt, so we wait... I've learned 'patience', sort of...most days ....
The State Park! Ok, thank you! I plan to walk those beaches looking for my own Pieces of Eight, I've planned to do that since 1968! Maybe 2014 will be the year?
(You might have written it down & I just missed it).
Have a safe & happy new years eve!

  4. Rob, I have never had the patience to wait, someone late to meet us, I hate the wait, someone ontime to meet us, I still hate the wait. I am paying a doctor an astronomical amount of money and I get to wait for the honor to pay him. I feel your pain

  5. There is (and has been) so much waiting in my life that I'd go crazy if I did more than mention that I'm waiting.
    (I get paid tomorrow )
